Holy Spirit Position Description March 2026
Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Eagle River, Alaska seeks a part-time (one-quarter time) priest who will guide a warm and welcoming congregation rooted in Episcopal traditions. Our parish values reverent liturgy, thought provoking preaching grounded in Scripture, and the celebration of Holy Eucharist at the center of our spiritual life. The next priest will help sustain and deepen the congregation’s shared faith through meaningful sermons, lay ministry development, and participation in the rhythms of parish life that strengthen fellowship, such as coffee hour, study groups, volunteer opportunities, and seasonal programs.
The priest will provide regular sacramental leadership two Sunday services a month and perform limited additional duties to be determined by the parties, such as providing lay leadership support, attending some vestry meetings and providing spiritual guidance. Parishioners value a clergy presence that is relational and engaged, including participation in congregational gatherings. The priest will be supported by a dedicated group of volunteers while helping broaden participation in the life and leadership of the parish.
Holy Spirit hopes to grow its congregation while remaining faithful to its traditions of hospitality, community service, and Episcopal worship. The next priest will help the parish strengthen its outreach in the Chugiak–Eagle River community through ministries such as the food pantry, Newborns in Need, and partnerships with local organizations. With a spirit of collaboration and pastoral grace, the priest will help the parish discern and seize opportunities for growth, welcome new families and visitors, and continue building a loving Christian community grounded in faith, service, and fellowship.
